The Legend of The Burgers

Also known as Burger Legend.
If you haven't assumed by now, I have a special love for hidden gems, especially within my own city. Having only recently opened, approximately a year ago, I thought I should wait to hear some feedback from Streetsville's Burger Legend. Whether I was there on their opening date or not I can see they know what they're doing. Burger Legend offers quality beef in their burgers, real Canadian cheese, freshly baked buns and freshly cut French fries. All of their ingredients are 100% fresh and never frozen.

Burger Legend prides themselves on their freshness “all day, everyday” and pleads they don’t even own a freezer. They want customers to experience the highest burger experience possible. My first experience at this lovely little restaurant was quite pleasing. I must admit I was the last customer they served that day, only leaving them with 10 minutes to live up to their expectations. I was incredibly pleased with my experience. I loved that I had so many delicious options to top off my burger, of course, including their house made “Bawss sauce”. I was especially excited when I saw they offered poutine as well.

The service was awesome. Even though I’m sure they wanted to go home ASAP they allowed me to take my time ordering and didn’t mind the last minute modification (you have to have bacon on your burger). I am excited to return to Burger Legend and experiment with their many burger options, within the near future. Hopefully you can give them a shot and enjoy it as much as I have!

Butterfinger Never Tasted So Good

Cooking is one thing that I will always love and will always make me happy. I love trying new recipes and experimenting by adding my own twists. One of my most recently discovered and attempted recipes is for Butterfinger chocolate bars. I couldn’t believe how easy and quick it was to make. Seeing as Butterfinger is literally one of my favourite chocolate bars, I was ecstatic when I found this efficient recipe. It would be my pleasure to share this recipe with all of my fellow bloggers.

Ingredients:
-       1 lb Candy Corn
-       1 lb Peanut Butter
-       1 lb Chocolate Chips

Step One:
-       In microwave melt Candy Corn for 1 minute, stir, then 30 sec.
-       Continue to microwave in increments of 15 seconds until smooth

Step Two:
-       Add Peanut Butter
-       Mix until well combined and creamy

Step Three:
-       Layer an 8”x8” pan with parchment paper
-       Pour Candy Corn mixture in pan

Step Four:
-       Melt Chocolate on stove on a double boiler
-       Once melted, pour on top of Candy Corn mixture
-       Allow to cool, cut and serve

I promise this recipe is as easy as it sounds. It’s fast, cheap to make and easy to clean up. Perfect to bring to a friends house or just to make for home to satisfy that chocolate craving. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I have.

Casper The White

For anyone unfamiliar with Casper The White, better known as my cat Casper, it is completely necessary that you check out his Instagram @Casperthewhite. Just a warning, his Instagram is quite inappropriate; he’s quite the comedian. It’s hard to understand how anyone could not completely love my little cuddle muffin. Casper is literally the friendliest cat you will ever meet. I guess his name suits him perfectly, of course, referring to “Casper the Friendly Ghost”.

My family and I welcomed Casper into our home in 2003 along with his brother Caramel. Unfortunately Caramel didn’t last very long, pushing Casper into the spotlight. Casper is an all white cat and as some of you may have heard white cats are likely to be born deaf. So yes, Casper is deaf. To be honest it makes him an even better fit for my family seeing how loud we constantly are. This way Casper is literally never afraid of us and constantly seeking attention.

I like to think of Casper as a dog… He’s completely depressed when we’re not in his sight and/or giving him affection. He sits by the front door and waits for us to get home. He has specific meows depending on what he wants and how he’s feeling. There’s the short but loud meow for when he’s hungry, the extremely long, extremely loud meow for when he thinks no one’s home… It’s basically his way of having a break down and crying for attention. Then there’s the “don’t stop petting me meow.”

Casper has always been known to be one of the most cuddly and most affectionate pets in my family. If any of you would like to keep up with his daily endeavours don’t hesitate to follow him on Instagram @Casperthewhite.

I'm In Love with the COCO(nut) Oil

My newest found love is coconut oil. For any of you oblivious to its benefits, you came to the right place! Coconut oil offers endless benefits, too many to mention in this one blog post. I am extremely excited to share with all of you some of the main benefits of this foreign substance. For anyone completely unfamiliar with coconut oil, it is defined as the fatty oil obtained from the coconut and used in candies and confections and in cosmetics. What people don’t realize is that pure coconut oil can be used for almost anything. Instead of boring you with long explanations of the many benefits, I’m going to list some of its main benefits that can be used in everyday life:
·      Cooking
o   Use in replace of butter or oil as a healthier option
o   Add to any meal for a delicious coconut taste
·      Make-up Remover
o   Apply to cotton swab or facecloth and use to wipe off make up
o   Does not sting eyes
·      Moisturizer
o   Use to moisturize any part of your body
o   Does not clog pores
·      Acne Control
o   Use to prevent acne as well as to treat existing acne
·      Hair Growth
o   Apply to eyelashes to stimulate hair growth
·      Hair Conditioner
o   Apply as a conditioner to hair, leave in over night and wash out in the morning
o   Leaves hair looking healthy and shiny
o   Thickens and strengthens hair
·      Lip Balm
o   Apply to lips as you would a lip balm, tastes great too
These are only a few benefits of coconut oil. Feel free to do your own research and don’t be afraid to experiment. Coconut oil is extremely safe for not only adults, but babies too. Check out this link for some more benefits of coconut oil:

Enjoy to the best of your ability, because I know I certainly have! Oh and you’re welcome.

What Do You Love About Cars?

Okay so I don’t know much about cars. At least I’m honest, right? But someone I do know who basically lives for her car is Instagram’s well known car babe “mk6nessa” also known as my best friend, Vanessa. Vanessa and I go way back; over 15 years ago, to be exact.  Although we hardly spent our younger years gawking at the hottest cars in our neighbourhood, Vanessa was sure to hop onto the hot car trend, and she did it well. A few years ago she made the purchase of her lifetime buying a Volkswagen Golf GTI. Ever since then our friendship has never been quite the same… Only joking. But sometimes I do wonder if she would choose me over her car… I don’t blame her.

Her VW Golf GTI has had some work done, courtesy of Vanessa’s particular taste. Suspension, exhaust, and performance upgrades are some of the work she has done. Along with some personalizing with exterior modifications. For anyone who still isn’t familiar with Mississauga’s very own Mk6nessa, you will have to check out her Instagram for the full effect. Not only can you check out her beautiful GTI, I’m sure you’ll be quite entertained with her comical and hardly appropriate posts. What can I say… my best friend is amazing! For anyone like me, driving a beaten up 2003 Jetta, it’s not the most ego boosting page, but hey… we can all dream right?

If you’re ever lucky enough to run into her on the road (not literally), make sure to say what’s up and spread the love. Drive safe!

Birthday Love

As some of you may already know, my birthday was a couple of weeks ago.  My birthday was on February 14, yes… Valentines Day! Being the efficient person I am, I had a whole day of deals and birthday benefits lined up for me.

#1 Mandarin
To my surprise, Mandarin provides you with a free meal on your birthday. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t taken advantage of this incentive for all the birthdays I have already spent at Mandarin. Year after year, Mandarin has always been the prime spot for my family to celebrate our birthdays. I guess it does serve perfect for everyone, because there’s a treat for every taste at Mandarin.

The Catch:
  • You must sign up with their loyalty program, previous to your birth date.
  • You must bring 3 friends with you in order to receive this awesome deal.
  • You must print out the coupon (sent via email) and use within 7 days of your birthday.

#2 Booster Juice
Who doesn’t love a smoothie, especially when it’s free, and on your birthday. Unfortunately for me, it was -40 degrees Celsius on my birthday so consuming anything cold that day was like torture.  But for all of my fellow bloggers GO FOR IT!

The Catch:
  • Must sign up for their loyalty program, previous to your birth date.
  • You don’t receive the coupon (via email) until your actual birthday.

#3 Marble Slab
Marble slab is one of my favourite ice cream chains around today. So when I found out I could get free ice cream on my birthday you could imagine how ecstatic I was. Marble Slab provides an endless amount of options with delicious ice cream and topping options. Since Mother Nature was so not on my side this year, I did unfortunately, miss out. For all of you lucky bloggers that aren’t suffering from -40 degrees Celsius weather on your birthday, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

The Catch:
  • Must sign up for their loyalty program, previous to your birth date.
  • Must buy 1 ice cream in order to receive yours for free

These are just 3 awesome incentives you can receive on your birthday, the most special day of the year. I advice all of my fellow bloggers to indulge in these awesome offerings and feel free to share with me other birthday deals I may not know of. Good luck and Happy Birthday!

Love Me Some Fried Chicken

Anyone that knows me well knows I have a soft spot for fried chicken. Having said that, I feel guilty not telling my fellow bloggers about my newfound discovery, Koo Koo Chicken.

One of my habits involves browsing through insauga’s awesome website. This is the go to site for any Mississaugians trying to find something to do in Mississauga. One of the great things about insauga is their “top5” feature. This feature lists the top five bests in Mississauga. Today’s lucky pick was “Top 5 Fried Chicken Joints in Mississauga”. Number one on this list is my most recently discovered, Koo Koo Chicken.

This hidden gem is located at Bristol and Creditview, just outside of Streetsville. I feel like a fool having driven by this place time and time again, although, it is not the most visually appealing places to dine. Even after finding out it’s number one on this golden list, I was still skeptical when arriving. Now, I must say, this entire experience truly justifies the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover”.

Anyone that admires such beauty in this world such as fried chicken knows what counts when judging the good kind from the bad.  I can confidently say what I, personally, look for is a super crispy, perfectly flavoured skin, and juicy chicken beneath it all. It can’t be too greasy and I need some flavour/sauce options. Koo Koo Chicken gives you everything I just mentioned. I placed my order according to insauga’s suggestion: Deep Fried Chicken steak with Fries and a Drink. Koo Koo Chicken makes everything fresh compared KFC’s lamp warmers, which leaves their chicken dry.

After ordering I took my seat and waited not-so-patiently for my meal. The best part of this experience is the Taiwanese twist on this classic favourite. Instead of a regular pop I had the option of getting bubble tea or a fruit smoothie. To my delight I ordered an original milk bubble tea.  Shortly after receiving my drink came the chicken steaks and fries. The fries were cooked perfectly, nice and crispy but not too greasy. The chicken was perfectly flavoured, perfect crisp, perfect juiciness from the meat, just perfect. The best part of the chicken was the 6 spice options sitting on your table waiting to be used. I chose to combine a couple of these spices: spicy, plum and black pepper. The chicken tasted sweet and spicy, just the way I like it. As usual, accompanying my meal was a sauce. I kept things simple, this time, and mixed half Siracha hot sauce and half ketchup; a usual go-to sauce mixture for me. The combo I selected was quite the generous portion so if you’re hungry you’re in luck.

Anyone that knows me knows I’m quite the food critic so if you have a craving, listen to me now and go to Koo Koo Chicken. Please share what you think about the entire experience. I can imagine you will be left as satisfied as I am right now.

Love,
